Senior Python Software Engineer (Product)

Remote ✓EN
O

Remote | Eastern Europe | Full-time Core collaboration hours: Approximately 11:00–18:00 CET About the Client Our client is an AI-first product company building an intelligent agent platform that automates complex business workflows using modern AI technologies. The product has been actively developed for nearly two years and is already beyond the MVP stage. While the platform continues to evolve rapidly, the engineering team has established mature development practices, structured documentation, and a strong culture of technical ownership. The company values engineering depth, autonomy, and thoughtful technical decision-making over simply delivering code. About the Role Our client is looking for an experienced Senior Python Software Engineer to design, build, and evolve the backend infrastructure powering their AI platform. Although the product is AI-first, this is fundamentally a software engineering role rather than a data engineering or AI engineering position. Strong backend fundamentals, distributed systems experience, system design skills, and experience solving complex production engineering problems are significantly more important than prior exposure to LLM frameworks. The team is looking for an engineer who can go beyond implementing predefined tasks: someone who can reason about architecture, identify failure modes and bottlenecks, evaluate technical trade-offs, and take ownership of backend systems from design through production. What You'll Do • Design, build, and evolve scalable Python backend services and microservices. • Own backend components end-to-end, from system design and technical decisions through implementation, testing, deployment, and production support. • Design asynchronous and distributed workflows and real-time communication components. • Work with messaging systems, event-driven processing, and distributed application patterns. • Design systems with scalability, reliability, consistency, and failure handling in mind. • Investigate and solve production performance and database bottlenecks. • Make architectural decisions and evaluate trade-offs between different technical approaches. • Collaborate closely with Product, QA, and Engineering throughout the SDLC. • Write clean, maintainable, well-tested production code. • Contribute to architecture reviews, code reviews, documentation, and engineering best practices. What We're Looking For Required • 5+ years of commercial Python software development experience, primarily focused on backend systems. • Strong object-oriented programming and core software engineering fundamentals. • Proven experience designing and building production backend applications and services. • Strong hands-on experience with system design and backend architecture. • Experience designing and developing microservices and distributed systems. • Practical experience with asynchronous and/or event-driven processing. • Experience with Django, FastAPI, or comparable Python backend frameworks. • Experience with RabbitMQ, Kafka, or similar messaging systems. • Strong understanding of distributed-system concerns such as reliability, consistency, retries, idempotency, and failure handling. • Experience solving production scalability and performance problems, including identifying system bottlenecks and reasoning about horizontal scaling. • Strong relational database fundamentals and experience investigating query performance, transactions, concurrency, or database bottlenecks. • Ability to reason clearly about architectural trade-offs, failure modes, scalability, and reliability. • Experience taking meaningful technical ownership of systems, services, or substantial backend functionality. • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes. • Strong understanding of the complete Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC). • Solid Git workflow and version control experience. • Experience working in agile, cross-functional product teams. • Good written and spoken English. Nice to Have • Experience building backend systems or substantial services from scratch. • Tech Lead, Staff Engineer, Architect, Technical Owner, or equivalent technical scope while remaining hands-on. • Experience working in startups, scale-ups, or smaller product teams with broad engineering ownership. • Experience building AI-powered products. • Familiarity with LLMs, RAG, LangChain, LangGraph, CrewAI, Hugging Face, OpenAI APIs, or similar technologies. • Experience with gRPC, WebSockets, or other real-time communication technologies. • Experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure. • Experience with PostgreSQL and/or NoSQL databases. • Familiarity with vector databases. • Infrastructure as Code such as Terraform or CloudFormation. • Strong automated testing practices. • Bash scripting. What Makes This Role Different This role is designed for engineers who enjoy solving complex backend problems and owning technical …

As the EMEA Sales Manager at Tiger Data, you will lead our fastest-growing sales segment and take direct ownership of how we build and scale our go-to-market motion across the region. EMEA is where much of our enterprise self-hosted opportunity lives customers who can't move to the cloud for compliance, architectural, or connectivity reasons, and who represent significant untapped revenue as we bring TimescaleDB Enterprise to market. You will lead a team of Account Executives selling into this landscape, shape how we position across a mix of Tiger Cloud and self-hosted deployments, and build the operating rhythm that turns strong reps into a repeatable, outbound-led engine. You will report to the Head of Sales and work closely with peers across US Enterprise and US Commercial, as well as Marketing, Sales Engineering, Customer Success, and Partnerships. This is a high-agency role where you'll be expected to hold a strong point of view, push back when needed, and shape strategy rather than execute against a fixed playbook. Due to the team's location and our customers' needs, the candidate we select must reside in Barcelona. This role is remote, and English language fluency is required. WHAT YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR IN THIS ROLE • Lead and manage a team of 6-8 Account Executives across EMEA, setting clear performance expectations and providing ongoing coaching in an insight-led, challenger-style sales motion • Own EMEA revenue attainment both new logo and expansion across Tiger Cloud and self-hosted deployments, including TimescaleDB Enterprise as it becomes commercially available • Build and enforce the outbound motion that anchors the region: target account discipline, contact density, and quality of engagement over volume • Coach reps on business impact discovery and ensure adoption of our sales framework • Partner with Marketing on ABM execution for the region, including custom nurture cadences, event follow-up, and coordinated coverage against the target account list • Work cross-functionally with Sales Engineering, Customer Success, and CDE / Professional Services to move deals through complex, multi-stakeholder cycles • Recruit, hire, and develop talent building a bench of strong ICs and identifying future leaders within the team • Represent EMEA in company-level GTM planning, forecasting, and quarterly leadership discussions YOU COULD BE A GREAT FIT IF • 2+ years of experience managing a quota-carrying mid-market or enterprise sales team, ideally in SaaS, infrastructure, or database-related sales • Track record of building and scaling outbound motions not just managing inbound conversion including running teams whose primary pipeline source is self-generated • Strong coaching orientation, with the ability to develop reps into confident, insight-led sellers who can challenge technical buyers • Experience selling to technical audiences (engineering leaders, CTOs, platform teams) and navigating multi-stakeholder deals • Comfort with complex GTM environments where cloud and self-hosted deployments coexist, and where positioning must adapt to customer architecture and constraints • A cross-functional operator someone who works well with Marketing, Product, and CS peers to drive outcomes rather than staying in a sales silo • Data-driven and results-oriented, with the ability to translate pipeline signal into coaching, forecasting, and resource decisions • Strong communication skills, with the confidence to hold a point of view in leadership discussions and push back when needed YOU MIGHT NOT BE A GREAT FIT IF • You are located outside of Barcelona • You're most comfortable in stable, well-established organizations rather than fast-moving environments where strategy evolves quarterly • You rely on inbound flow to hit team targets rather than driving outbound as the core motion • You avoid direct conversations with peers, cross-functional partners, or leadership when alignment is needed OUR COMMITMENT: • We respond to every applicant. • We review applications fairly and objectively, and shortlist based on relevant skills and experience. • We ensure clear and timely communication throughout your candidate journey. • We maintain a rigorous interview process with a high bar, designed to give you the opportunity to meet various team members you'll collaborate with across our organization.
