About the Role As a Data & AI Intern , you'll sit at the intersection of Data & Analytics and Service Operations. You'll help build the data infrastructure and AI-powered automations that drive how we make decisions and run our operations day to day. Skills and qualifications • Completed BSc and currently in the final stages of a master's, or already holding a master's, in a quantitative or STEM field (e.g. Econometrics, Data Science, or a related discipline). • Comfortable with SQL, or a strong eagerness to learn it quickly; familiarity with a data warehouse (BigQuery a plus) is a bonus. • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; you enjoy working with data to draw insights and support decisions. • Curiosity about AI and LLMs, and ideally some hands-on experience building with them or with automation tools. • Clear written and verbal communication, with the ability to structure complex ideas simply. • Highly organized and detail-oriented, able to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. • Experience in startups, consulting or operations is a strong plus. The role is about: We are expanding our engineering capabilities and looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join our growing team. In this role, you will play a key part in designing and building scalable, high-performance backend systems, contributing to the development of robust services that support a range of internal and customer-facing products. You will work in a fast-paced environment where system performance, scalability, and reliability are critical. Location: Remote from Portugal (Contractor arrangement) Reporting to: Group CTO What you will do: • Design and implement scalable Python microservices in a distributed architecture. • Build and optimize high-performance backend systems, ensuring scalability and reliability under high load. • Integrate and manage third-party APIs and external services. • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define technical solutions and system design approaches. • Work with AWS services (e.g. Lambda, cloud infrastructure) to architect and deploy solutions. • Improve and maintain CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes in collaboration with DevOps. • Lead and contribute to code reviews, ensuring high engineering standards. • Identify system bottlenecks and drive performance and scalability improvements. • Troubleshoot complex production issues in distributed systems. • Contribute to technical discussions and guide best practices within the team.
