Fully remote mini-jobs are rare on the German market: most casual jobs are tied to a location, and only a few employers advertise marginal employment for the home office. That is why we only list genuine matches instead of padding the list. If you regularly earn more than the mini-job limit, you move into the midijob range with reduced social contributions; you will find those roles in the part-time category. A mini-job (Germany’s marginal-employment category, also called the 520-euro job) is a role with monthly earnings up to the statutory mini-job threshold, which rises each year with the minimum wage (€556 in 2025, €603 from 2026). A remote mini-job is done fully or mostly from home, customer support, data entry, social-media management, or online research.
Since 1 January 2026 the mini-job limit is €603 a month, or €7,236 a year. It is tied to the statutory minimum wage, which rose to €13.90 per hour in 2026, at minimum wage that is a good 43 hours a month, roughly 10 hours a week. At a higher hourly rate, the possible hours shrink accordingly.
If your monthly average exceeds €603, the role becomes a midi-job (the transition band from €603.01 to €2,000) with reduced but regular social contributions. The older names “520-euro job” (until 2024) and “556-euro job” (2025) refer to the same employment type, only the limit has risen with the minimum wage.
For many, yes: in Germany mini-job earnings are usually tax- and social-contribution-free for the employee, and working from home cuts the commute. Remote mini-jobs are popular with students, parents on leave, retirees, and anyone topping up a main income.
If you want more hours and higher pay, our remote part-time jobs page (linked below) lists roles above the mini-job threshold, with regular social insurance and usually a fixed weekly-hours model.
Many remote mini-jobs need no formal training or prior experience. Common entry-level tasks include data entry, product-catalogue upkeep, simple research, social-media support, community moderation, proofreading, and paid surveys or product testing. You are usually trained on the job, reliability, solid German or English, and a quiet workspace with stable internet matter more than a CV.
Flexible work-from-home offers attract scams. Red flags: an upfront payment or “starter fee”, unrealistically high hourly pay, payment only in vouchers or crypto, pressure to reply immediately on WhatsApp or Telegram, and missing or anonymous company details. Trustworthy roles state the employer, the tasks and the pay transparently and never ask applicants for money. The mini-job limit is an earnings cap, not an hours cap: €603 a month on average (2026). At the €13.90 minimum wage that is a good 43 hours a month, roughly 10 hours a week. At a higher hourly rate, the possible hours shrink accordingly.
Yes. Without a main job subject to social insurance you can combine several mini-jobs, as long as total earnings average under €603 a month. Alongside a main job, exactly one mini-job stays contribution-free, any additional one is added to the main employment.
