Good to know

From 2027 your monthly gross at the same hours is above 2,000 euro. The Midijob ends there and full social contributions apply.

  • The 2027 net cannot be calculated reliably yet: the 2027 wage tax tables, contribution ceilings and top-up rate are only published at the end of 2026. The gross is already fixed.
  • Under §22 MiLoG there is no entitlement to the minimum wage for under-18s without completed vocational training, apprentices, mandatory interns and interns on short orientation placements of up to three months, and long-term unemployed people for the first six months of a new job.

Non-binding estimate under MiLoG, MiLoV5 and PAP 2026. Calculated with an average of 52 divided by 12 weeks a month, statutory health insurance, 9 percent church tax and without the Saxony care-insurance rule. Supplements, one-off payments and multiple jobs are not included. Your payslip is what counts.

How much is the German minimum wage net in 2026?

The German minimum wage in 2026 is exactly 13.90 euro gross an hour, which at 40 weekly hours makes 2,409.33 euro gross a month and around 1,716 euro net in tax class I without children; from 2027 it is 14.60 euro an hour.

The formula

Monthly gross = minimum wage times weekly hours times 52 divided by 12. Net = gross minus wage tax, solidarity surcharge, church tax if applicable and social contributions under PAP 2026. Mini-job limit = minimum wage times 130 divided by 3, rounded up to full euros.

How the minimum wage calculator works

The statutory minimum wage is set in the Minimum Wage Act (MiLoG) and adjusted by ordinance on the proposal of the Minimum Wage Commission. The Fifth Minimum Wage Adjustment Ordinance sets two steps: 13.90 euro gross per hour from 1 January 2026 and 14.60 euro from 1 January 2027. It applies to almost all employees, mini-jobs included.

The calculator turns the hourly wage into a monthly gross by multiplying weekly hours by 52 weeks and dividing by 12 months, so a month has 4.33 weeks on average. At 40 weekly hours that is 173.33 hours and 2,409.33 euro gross a month, and 2,530.67 euro in 2027.

Wage tax, solidarity surcharge, church tax if applicable and social contributions come off the gross. The calculator uses the official 2026 payroll model of the Federal Ministry of Finance, the same one as the net salary calculator. In tax class I a large part of a full-time minimum wage stays tax free, because the basic allowance for 2026 is 12,348 euro a year.

How much is deducted depends heavily on the hours. Up to the mini-job limit of 603 euro you pay only a 3.6 percent pension contribution, or nothing if you opt out. Between 603.01 and 2,000 euro the Midijob applies, with reduced contributions. Full rates only apply above that. At the minimum wage the 2026 Midijob covers roughly 10 to 33 weekly hours.

The mini-job limit has moved automatically since October 2022: minimum wage times 130 divided by 3, rounded up to full euros (§8(1a) SGB IV). The formula equals ten weekly hours at the minimum wage. In 2026 that gives 603 euro, in 2027 633 euro. The upper end of the Midijob stays fixed at 2,000 euro.

For 2027 the calculator therefore shows the hourly rate, the gross and the new classification, but no net figure. The 2027 wage tax tables, the new contribution ceilings and the average top-up rate are only set towards the end of 2026. A net worked out with 2026 values would be an estimate posing as a fact.

Frequently asked questions

What is the German minimum wage in 2026?
Since 1 January 2026 the statutory minimum wage has been 13.90 euro gross an hour, set by the Fifth Minimum Wage Adjustment Ordinance. Compared with 2025 (12.82 euro) that is an increase of 8.42 percent.
What is the German minimum wage in 2027?
From 1 January 2027 the minimum wage rises to 14.60 euro gross an hour, also set by the Fifth Minimum Wage Adjustment Ordinance. At 40 weekly hours that makes 2,530.67 euro gross a month.
How much net pay is a full-time minimum wage?
At 40 weekly hours the 2026 minimum wage gives exactly 2,409.33 euro gross a month. In tax class I without children and with the average top-up rate, around 1,716 euro of it is left net. Children, tax class III or church tax change the figure, which the calculator above works out.
How many hours can I work in a mini-job at the minimum wage?
The mini-job limit of 603 euro a month equals about ten weekly hours at the minimum wage. That is by design: the limit is calculated as minimum wage times 130 divided by 3, i.e. from ten hours a week. In 2027 the limit rises to 633 euro, so the number of hours stays the same.
Who is not entitled to the minimum wage?
Under §22 MiLoG the exceptions are under-18s without completed vocational training, apprentices, mandatory interns, voluntary orientation internships of up to three months and long-term unemployed people in the first six months of a new job. Volunteers are not covered either.
Does the minimum wage apply to mini-jobs?
Yes. Mini-jobbers are also entitled to at least 13.90 euro an hour. Because the mini-job limit is tied to the minimum wage, the limit moves with every increase, so the possible number of hours stays the same.
