Typical tasks are rating and comparing AI answers on criteria such as accuracy, helpfulness and tone, writing and correcting example answers, annotating and categorising text, images or conversations, transcribing audio recordings and recording voice samples. Many projects are language-specific and look for native speakers, for example of German or French, because accuracy, style and tone have to be judged separately in every language. There are also roles for subject experts in fields such as law, medicine, mathematics or software development, who check answers in their area. Closely related are rating jobs for search results and ads, where you judge how well a result fits a search query.
Most projects are freelance or fixed-term assignments: you work per project, largely set your own hours and are paid through the platform or by invoice. Some roles are advertised as employment, for example as working-student jobs; the listing says which applies. Before the first project there is usually a qualification test, such as a language or writing sample or a trial task under set guidelines. What matters is very good language skills, careful reading and the patience to apply detailed guidelines consistently, plus a reliable computer and stable internet. How much work a project offers varies. Trustworthy providers never ask for fees, paid “starter kits” or paid training before you can work, and never pay in vouchers or cryptocurrency. Be wary of recruiters who only write via WhatsApp or Telegram and name no verifiable company.
