Competition Management & Digital Engagement (CMDE) is a key engineering organization within Sportradar. We build and operate products that help sports organizations manage competitions, run tournaments, distribute sports content, and deliver high-quality digital experiences for fans.

Working with federations, leagues, governing bodies, event organizers, and other sports organizations, our teams develop reliable platforms for competition administration, scheduling, results management, statistics, content distribution, and fan-facing experiences.

Our systems support complex operational environments and must remain dependable, adaptable, and easy to operate at scale.

The Challenge

This is a role for an experienced developer who wants to own things, not just deliver them. You will take complex technical initiatives from design through production, work across a high-performing distributed team, and influence the architecture and engineering practices of strategically important CMDE platforms.

You will remain hands-on while helping modernize systems, improve reliability, and translate competition-management needs into scalable software capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate scalable, high-performance services and applications using C# and .NET.
• Take independent ownership of complex technical initiatives from initial design through production delivery and continuous improvement.
• Contribute to architecture decisions across distributed systems, APIs, cloud platforms, and event-driven services.
• Guide platform modernization while balancing delivery needs, operational risk, technical debt, and long-term maintainability.
• Mentor engineers through code review, pairing, design guidance, and constructive feedback.
• Drive improvements in reliability, security, observability, performance, testing, and engineering practices.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, and business stakeholders to connect technical decisions with customer and organizational value.
• Build expertise across competition management, tournament operations, scheduling, results, statistics, and digital engagement.

About You

You are an experienced software developer who can independently design, build, and operate complex software systems. You combine deep .NET expertise with pragmatic judgment, enjoy solving challenging technical problems, and can influence engineering decisions beyond your immediate deliverables.

You communicate clearly, help other engineers grow, and understand that engineering excellence includes coperability, customer outcomes, and sustainable delivery.

Required Experience and Expertise

• 15+ years of professional software development experience, including responsibility for business-critical production systems.
• Expert-level knowledge of C#, .NET, APIs, asynchronous programming, performance, testing, and modern software design practices.
• Proven ability to design and operate distributed systems in production using cloud platforms and contemporary architecture patterns.
• Independent ownership of complex initiatives, from architecture and delivery through production operation and incident learning.
• A strong record of mentoring engineers and conducting technical reviews that are direct, constructive, and useful.
• Clear communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders, including the ability to explain trade-offs and build alignment around difficult decisions.
• Experience with sports technology, competition-management platforms, enterprise SaaS, or similarly complex operational domains.
• Demonstrated Snooker domain expertise, including competition structures, tournament formats, scheduling, scoring, results, statistics, and operational workflows.
