The German Remote Job Market: August 2026
The first monthly nomado24 data report on the German remote job market
Data as of: 9 August 2026, 13:16 UTC (snapshot of the nomado24 live job index). This is a frozen monthly snapshot, not a live-updated figure: the numbers in this report do not change even though the live index has moved on since. For the current count, see /remote-jobs/statistik.
The thesis in one sentence: the German remote job market is large and highly dynamic in August 2026 (9,487 active listings, near-complete turnover within 30 days), but structurally opaque on two fronts: only a minority of hybrid-labelled listings are actually fully location-independent, and salaries stay hidden in 92.0% of listings, while search demand for home-office mini-jobs outstrips real supply by roughly 35 to 1.
August's Six Key Findings
The six central figures of this monthly report, each with its own source. Figures marked "nomado24 index" describe only the jobs listed on nomado24, not the whole market.
The stock has grown nearly tenfold since mid-June and sits close to its all-time high
Only around one in four remote-labelled listings is truly fully remote
The market renews itself almost completely within 30 days
Sales and customer service dominate supply, IT is smaller than its reputation
Around 35 Google searches for a home-office mini-job for every one real listing
Salary transparency stays the exception
| No. | Key finding | Figure | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | The stock has grown nearly tenfold since mid-June and sits close to its all-time high | 979 to 9,583 listings (16 Jun to 9 Aug 2026, morning capture), all-time high 10,625 on 5 Aug 2026 | nomado24 index, daily inventory snapshots (public API /api/aggregated-job-stats) |
| 2 | Only around one in four remote-labelled listings is truly fully remote | 22.9% full-remote (2,170 of 9,487), the rest hybrid | nomado24 index, report-stats.byWorkLocation |
| 3 | The market renews itself almost completely within 30 days | 9,169 new listings in 30 days, 96.6% of the current stock | nomado24 index, live statistics API (/api/report-stats) |
| 4 | Sales and customer service dominate supply, IT is smaller than its reputation | Vertrieb/Sales lead, IT only ranks third | nomado24 index, daily inventory snapshots (public API /api/aggregated-job-stats) |
| 5 | Around 35 Google searches for a home-office mini-job for every one real listing | over 3,700 impressions in 14 days vs around 100 real listings | own Google Search Console data, 27 Jul to 7 Aug 2026 |
| 6 | Salary transparency stays the exception | only 8.0% of listings name a salary (761 of 9,487) | nomado24 index, report-stats.salaryPercentiles |
Section 1: Market Size, How Big Is the Remote Job Market Right Now?
The nomado24 index counted 9,487 active remote and hybrid listings from 4,202 different companies on 9 August 2026 (nomado24 index, live statistics API /api/report-stats, snapshot 9 Aug 2026). That is a snapshot from 14 ingest sources after deduplication and a liveness sweep, not a random sample of the German labour market (see the methodology below).
Only around one in four remote-labelled listings in Germany is actually fully location-independent. The rest is hybrid. Of the 9,487 active listings, 7,317 are recorded as hybrid (77.1%) and 2,170 as full-remote (22.9%). Anyone looking for a job that can genuinely be done from anywhere is searching within a noticeably smaller slice than the headline count suggests.
- Hybrid: 77.1% (7,317)
- Full-remote: 22.9% (2,170)

| Work arrangement | Number of listings | Share |
|---|---|---|
| Hybrid | 7,317 | 77.1% |
| Full-remote | 2,170 | 22.9% |
Section 2: Momentum, How Fast Does Supply Turn Over?
The index is not a stable list, it is a stock that renews itself almost entirely. In the 7 days before the snapshot, 2,850 new listings appeared (30.0% of the current stock), and in the last 30 days it was 9,169, practically as many as the entire current stock of 9,487 (96.6%). Skipping a search today means missing not just individual listings, but most of a month worth of supply.
One data point per day, last snapshot of the day (55 days). Nearly a tenfold increase since mid-June; the brief dip on 31 Jul traces back to a source-level ingest gap, the all-time high of 10,625 was reached on 5 Aug. Source: nomado24 index, daily inventory snapshots (public API /api/aggregated-job-stats). Chart: nomado24.de
The public time series reaches back to mid-June and shows a steep growth curve: from 979 active listings on 16 June, the stock rose to 9,583 in the morning capture of 9 August, nearly a tenfold increase within under two months. The all-time high of 10,625 listings was reached on 5 August, the current snapshot sits just below it.
The trend also shows how much the daily count can swing: on 31 July the count briefly dropped to 4,009 listings, one day after a value of 6,864, before settling back above 9,500 from 1 August onward. Swings like this come from source-level ingest gaps and are deliberately not smoothed, the chart shows the raw daily values.
| Date | Active listings |
|---|---|
| 16 Jun | 979 |
| 30 Jun | 2,516 |
| 14 Jul | 1,666 |
| 21 Jul | 7,768 |
| 28 Jul | 7,000 |
| 31 Jul | 4,009 |
| 4 Aug | 10,459 |
| 5 Aug | 10,625 |

| 8 Aug | 10,071 |
| 9 Aug | 9,583 |
Section 3: Role Clusters, Who Hires Remotely the Most?
Sales and customer service dominate the German-language remote supply, IT is smaller than its reputation. The largest role tags in the index (by number of matches) are led by Vertrieb, the German word for sales (903), and Sales (877), clearly ahead of IT (688) in third place. Kundenservice, the German word for customer service (275), and its English counterpart Customer Support (382) together also outrank pure IT roles like Developer (442).
Overlapping keyword matches in title and description, not a mutually exclusive categorisation (see the methodological note in the text). Rank 10 is a dead tie between Finance and Kundenservice at 275 matches each, so both are shown. Source: nomado24 index, daily inventory snapshots (public API /api/aggregated-job-stats, morning capture 9 Aug 2026, N = 9,583). Chart: nomado24.de
Methodological note, as in the flagship report: these role tags rely on overlapping keyword matches in title and description, not on a mutually exclusive categorisation. Vertrieb and Sales, for instance, are separate German and English matches for related roles and are deliberately not merged, so the figures stay traceable. Audience tags with no occupational meaning (home office, full-time, part-time, freelance, mothers, working students, retirees, career changers, no experience required, mini-job, students, 100% remote) are excluded from this ranking.
Section 4: The Mini-Job Paradox, Huge Demand, Tiny Supply
This is the most citable chapter of this report. Over a 14-day window (27 Jul to 7 Aug 2026), German search terms around "Minijob Homeoffice" (home-office mini-job) recorded over 3,700 impressions in nomado24 own Google Search Console. Over the same window, the nomado24 index listed around 100 real remote mini-job listings (103 listings tagged "minijob" in the 8 Aug 2026 snapshot).
Around 35 Google searches for a home-office mini-job for every one real listing. That is this report demand-to-supply factor: over 3,700 impressions divided by around 100 real listings gives a factor of roughly 35. For job seekers, that makes this one of the most underserved niches in the entire index.
Legal background: the 2026 mini-job threshold. Since 2025, Germany mini-job earnings threshold has been dynamically linked to the statutory minimum wage, calculated as minimum wage times 130 divided by 3. At the 2026 minimum wage of EUR 13.90 per hour, that gives a mini-job threshold of EUR 603 per month. This narrow threshold is a plausible partial explanation for the thin supply: a mini-job contract structured to also be remote-capable stays a special case for most employers.
| Metric | Value | Period / source |
|---|---|---|
| Google search impressions for "Minijob Homeoffice" and similar | over 3,700 | 27 Jul to 7 Aug 2026, own Google Search Console |
| Real remote mini-job listings in the index | around 100 (103) | snapshot 8 Aug 2026, nomado24 index, by_profession.minijob |
| Demand-to-supply factor | around 35 to 1 | calculated from the two figures above |
Section 5: Salary Transparency Stays the Exception
Only 8.0 percent of the remote and hybrid listings on nomado24 name a salary. 761 of 9,487 active listings (nomado24 index, report-stats.salaryPercentiles, snapshot 9 Aug 2026). Counted here is every listing with a usable salary figure, whether it sits in a structured salary field from the source or only in the free text of the ad. Put differently: only around one listing in twelve states a salary at all.
Basis: 9,487 active remote and hybrid listings in the nomado24 index, snapshot 9 Aug 2026, field report-stats.salaryPercentiles. A statement about the transparency rate, not the level of pay. Source: nomado24 index. Chart: nomado24.de
For the 761 listings that do name a salary, the median is EUR 4,665 gross per month (percentiles: p25 at EUR 3,800, p75 at EUR 5,490). Important context: this subset is self-selected, employers decide for themselves whether to state a figure, so it is a statement about the transparency rate, not about the typical remote salary in Germany. For reliable pay levels, this report points to official figures such as the Federal Employment Agency Entgeltatlas, covered in depth in the flagship report "Remote Work in Germany 2026".
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Listings with a stated salary | 761 of 9,487 (8.0%) |
| Median (50th percentile) | EUR 4,665/month |
| 25th percentile | EUR 3,800/month |
| 75th percentile | EUR 5,490/month |
Section 6: Language, How Accessible Is the Market Without German?
Most listings in the index are advertised in German (7,757 of 9,487, 81.8%), a meaningful share in English (1,722, 18.2%), and a small remainder in French (8, 0.1%). For international applicants without fluent German, that leaves nearly one listing in five in the index practically accessible, concentrated in the industries with the highest remote share.
| Language | Number of listings | Share |
|---|---|---|
| German | 7,757 | 81.8% |
| English | 1,722 | 18.2% |
| French | 8 | 0.1% |
Section 7: Methodology
This report is a frozen monthly snapshot, not a live-updated figure, that is exactly what makes it a stable, citable reference.
- Two data sources. This report combines (a) nomado24 own live job index (snapshot 9 Aug 2026, N = 9,487) and (b) our own Google Search Console data on search behaviour on nomado24.de (window 27 Jul to 7 Aug 2026). Both are always labelled as such.
- Three measurement times. The headline figures of this report (stock, companies, work arrangement, language, sources, salary) come from the live snapshot of 9 August 2026, 13:16 UTC, N = 9,487. The daily time series in Section 2 and the role tags in Section 3 come from the public inventory capture of the same day at 08:15 UTC, N = 9,583. The count of remote mini-job listings in Section 4 deliberately stays on the snapshot of 8 August 2026, because it is the denominator of a ratio whose numerator is a Google Search Console window ending on 7 August: both halves of that ratio have to share one vintage. All three measurements are real, and every figure is labelled at the point of use as the one it comes from.
- Correction, 9 August 2026. A first version of this edition reported a salary-disclosure rate of 1.4 percent (136 listings). It was based on a snapshot taken hours before free-text salary detection went live, and it substantially understated the rate. What was regenerated in response are the report-stats headline figures, that is stock, companies, salary, languages, sources and work arrangement, all taken from the 13:16 UTC snapshot. The daily time series, the role tags and the mini-job count deliberately stayed on the earlier captures described above.
- Aggregated from 14 sources. The index is aggregated daily from 14 ingest sources: applicant-tracking systems such as Personio, Greenhouse, Ashby, Lever, Workable, Recruitee and SmartRecruiters, the German Federal Employment Agency, and curated feeds (Adzuna, Arbeitnow, We Work Remotely, Himalayas, Remotive, RemoteOK). Pure onsite roles are excluded at collection, near-duplicates are removed, and a daily liveness sweep removes expired listings.

About this report
This is the first edition of a monthly data report by nomado24 on the German remote job market. Each edition freezes a monthly snapshot of our own live job index, combined with a handful of proprietary metrics such as search-demand data, so the figures stay citable indefinitely even as the live index keeps moving.
