Job description
Your mission
Location: remote within Germany
JTL is one of the leading providers of e-commerce software in the German-speaking region – with around 450 employees across the group and more than 50,000 customers across a wide range of industries. We develop scalable, flexible solutions for the online retail of the future, from ERP systems to shop and marketplace integrations.
You don't just want to use AI tools – you want to shape how an entire engineering organization works with them. We are looking for two AI Engineers who make AI agents a reliable part of our developers' everyday work.
We are not building a central AI team that writes every workflow for everyone else. We want our teams to work with AI on their own: with the right context, reliable access to engineering knowledge, and workflows that fit their repositories and ways of working.
Your team
You join Engineering Excellence, the team behind developer tooling and AI enablement for JTL's development teams. Our internal agent platform runs AI workflows that review pull requests, fix bugs and implement tickets independently. We support each team, project and repository with what they need to work well with AI.
What you will do
- Enable developers to work with AI on their own – in workshops, pairing and coaching: how to provide good context, write clear prompts and create tickets an agent can reliably work on
- Be the point of contact for the teams: collect where they get stuck, share what works across teams and keep everyone informed
- Build AI workflows together with development teams – from the first idea to a workflow that runs on real tickets: bug fixes, code reviews, tests
- Make repositories ready for agents: context files, skills, rules and the automated checks a workflow needs to validate its own work
- Develop our internal agent platform and its integrations with Jira, GitHub, documentation, code search and MCP servers
- Run workflows in production: monitoring, cost, quality of results and the data behind our scorecards
- Evaluate new developments in coding agents, MCP and context engineering for their practical value to us
Your profile
- You have several years of software development experience and have built and maintained real-world products beyond prototypes
- You communicate clearly, enjoy sharing knowledge, and enable other engineers through collaboration, explanation, and active listening
- You have hands-on experience with coding agents such as Claude Code or GitHub Copilot in your daily development workflow
- You understand the practical application of LLMs, including context engineering, tool calling, and agentic workflows
- You can navigate unfamiliar codebases, quickly understand their structure, and identify the context an AI agent needs to work effectively within them
- You have experience integrating APIs, tools, and data sources into software systems
- You enjoy building custom tools, MCP servers, skills, and plugins to extend the capabilities of AI agents
- You have experience with one or more of our technology stacks, including C#, PHP, Node.js, and React.js. Your practical experience matters more than the specific programming language
- You are fluent in both German and English, written and spoken
Why us?
- Remote-first within Germany, with the option to work remotely from eligible countries for up to 180 days per year
- Meal allowance of up to €115 net per month
- Ergonomic workspace allowance for your home office setup
- Regular team events, company-wide gatherings, and summer and Christmas parties to stay connected as a remote-first company
- EGYM Wellpass and JobRad subsidy
- Financial benefits including capital-forming payments (Vermögenswirksame Leistungen) and a company pension scheme
