Role overview

We’re looking for a video editor who understands dynamic editing, can build engaging videos with strong retention, and selects footage based on meaning — not just aesthetics. This person should be able to independently source materials such as stock footage, references, B-roll, memes, and AI-generated visuals, and turn them into compelling short-form content.

Must-have skills

• Strong understanding of dynamic editing: pacing, hooks, rhythm, and attention retention.
• Ability to edit based on story and meaning, not just music or visuals.
• Can independently find and select footage such as B-roll, stock, and references.
• Experience with short-form content including Reels, Shorts, TikTok, and ads.
• Ability to add captions/subtitles, basic motion graphics, zooms, transitions, and highlights.
• Understands how to capture attention in the first 3–5 seconds.
• Fast turnaround and ability to iterate based on feedback.
• Nice to have: experience with AI tools for generating or sourcing visuals.

This is not for you if

• You focus only on nice-looking edits without understanding the message.
• You rely fully on provided materials and cannot source content independently.
• You do not understand the difference between basic and dynamic editing.
• You cannot explain why specific visuals were chosen.
• You produce slow-paced edits with weak engagement.
• You struggle with feedback or revisions.
