ABOUT THE ROLE
Ruby Labs builds and scales multiple D2C subscription products across health, education, and entertainment. Quality is not a gate at the end of our process; it is woven into every sprint, every release, and every decision.
We are looking for a Mid-Level QA Specialist who takes genuine ownership of product quality. In this role, you will work closely with engineers and product managers to test new features rigorously, catch issues before they reach users, and continuously raise the bar for what “done” means.
This is a hands-on, technically demanding role. You will move fluidly between manual exploratory testing and automated test suites, from API validation to end-to-end funnel testing. You care deeply about getting things right, not just checking boxes.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Test web applications and native Android and iOS applications.
- Design and execute comprehensive test plans for new features, covering functional, regression, edge cases, and end-to-end scenarios using Playwright and TypeScript.
- Perform exploratory and risk-based testing to uncover issues that scripted tests miss.
- Act as the first line of investigation for customer complaints – reproduce the issue, reconstruct the user's session from available data, and determine whether it's a product defect, a data issue, or a third-party failure before escalating to engineering.
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to enforce quality gates on every merge.
- Validate backend APIs using Postman or equivalent tools.
- Use SQL queries to verify data correctness and integrity at the database (Postgres) level.
- Validate complete user flows across every system they touch – the product itself, Mixpanel analytics, the payment provider's dashboard, Customer.io http://Customer.io email data, and the database.
- Document bugs with precision – clear reproduction steps, environment and build details, logs, and screenshots.
- Prioritize issues by severity and impact, communicating urgently when critical paths are affected.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of hands-on QA experience in a product or SaaS environment.
- Strong experience with test automation – Playwright + TypeScript strongly preferred.
- Solid experience with API testing using Postman or a similar tool.
- Working knowledge of SQL for data validation and backend verification.
- Experience testing subscription funnels, checkout flows, or payment systems.
- Excellent attention to detail and a methodical, structured approach to testing.
- Strong ownership mindset – you do not wait to be told something is broken.
- Comfortable working remotely in a fast-paced, high-expectation environment.
- Fluent English, written and spoken.
NICE TO HAVE
- Experience with performance or load testing tools (k6, Locust, or similar).
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, particularly GitHub Actions.
- Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Sentry or Better Stack.
- Background in fintech, subscription, or health/wellness digital products.
- ISTQB or equivalent QA certification.
LOCATION
Ruby Labs operates within the CET (Central European Time) zone. Applicants from any country are welcome to apply for the position as long as they are located within approximately ± 4 hours of CET. This ensures optimal collaboration and communication during working hours.
