Freelance BI & Automation Specialist

About the role

This is a freelance, on-demand role focused on designing and delivering tools for internal Business Intelligence and Operations.
You’ll work directly with the Operations Director , who will define the business need. Your job will be to translate that into clean structures, working dashboards, and automated workflows — and then hand them over for internal maintenance.

You won’t be involved in day-to-day operations or ongoing upkeep; instead, you’ll support us through discrete, well-scoped assignments requiring precision, data security, and technical autonomy.

Use of AI to speed up development (e.g., for scripts, transformations, documentation) is welcome but not required .

Responsibilities

• Design and build operational dashboards (Looker Studio / G-Suite ecosystem)
• Structure data sources for reporting (Sheets models, imports, transformations)
• Create lightweight automations using AppScript, Google Workspace integrations, Zapier, and similar tools
• Support integrations between tools (HubSpot, Atlassian, Slack, Google Workspace; nice to have: Productive)
• Prepare clear documentation to hand over solutions to internal teams
• Ensure high standards of data security, access control, and compliance
• Provide technical consultation on best practices in data architecture and BI tooling

Requirements

• Strong experience with Google Workspace tools , including Google Sheets (advanced formulas, queries, pivots) and AppScript
• Proficiency in building dashboards in Looker Studio
• Experience with automation platforms (Zapier or equivalents)
• Ability to independently translate business needs into working data/dashboards/automations
• Experience integrating SaaS tools (HubSpot, Atlassian, Slack, etc.)
• Strong sense of data privacy, security, and compliance
• Excellent organisational skills and reliability in remote/async collaboration
• Very good English (spoken and written)

Nice to have:

• Experience with Productive
• Familiarity with BI pipelines, data modelling, or more advanced analytics
• Ability to leverage AI tools to accelerate development and documentation
