The Compliance and Data Protection Manager is responsible for leading the organisation's approach to compliance, accountability and regulatory governance. The role drives enterprise-wide change by embedding compliance and data protection responsibilities into business decision-making, leadership accountability and organisational practices. Success in the role will be achieved not simply through compliance outcomes, but through the development of a culture in which Clúid employees actively own and manage their compliance obligations.
The role is accountable for the design, leadership and continuous evolution of Clúid's compliance and data protection frameworks. The role's primary focus is organisational leadership, influence, assurance and cultural change.
Supported by specialist data protection expertise within the team, the primary focus of this role is leadership, governance, assurance and organisational change rather than the direct operation of day-to-day compliance processes.
The role sits within the Legal and Governance function led by the Chief Legal Officer reporting to the CEO. This function includes the Data Protection Coordinator, Risk & Assurance Team, Company Secretariat, Legal Advisory, Legal Operations and Health & Safety teams.
The position will operate as a second line assurance function, providing independent oversight, challenge and monitoring of compliance with legal, regulatory and policy requirements across the organisation.
Success in this role will be demonstrated through the effective operation of Clúid's compliance framework, timely remediation of compliance issues, strong data protection governance, successful completion of assurance activities and continued enhancement of organisational compliance culture.
Key Responsibilities
Compliance and Governance
- Lead organisation-wide initiatives to improve compliance maturity, governance effectiveness and accountability.
- Influence senior leaders to integrate compliance and regulatory considerations into strategic and operational decision-making.
- Establish and monitor compliance indicators and recommend interventions where improvements are required.
- Act as a change enabler, building organisational capability rather than reliance on central compliance oversight.
- Monitor and assess compliance risks, controls, and assurance activities across the organisation.
- Develop and maintain policies, procedures, and monitoring frameworks that support effective governance and regulatory compliance.
Data Protection Support and Oversight
- Provide governance oversight of core data protection processes and ensure that appropriate systems, controls and resources are in place for their effective operation.
- Provide strategic leadership and oversight of Clúid's data protection framework, ensuring effective governance, accountability and continuous improvement.
- Manage and support the Data Protection Coordinator, ensuring the effective delivery of day-to-day data protection activities and fostering continuous professional development.
- Support a culture of data protection compliance and accountability across the organisation by building capability, increasing awareness and supporting managers to take ownership of privacy obligations within their business areas.
Compliance Monitoring and Assurance
- Work closely with the Head of Risk to ensure alignment between compliance monitoring and risk management activities.
- Develop and maintain an annual compliance monitoring …
