Senior QA Engineer (w/m/d)

Your mission

We develop scalable, flexible solutions for the online retail of the future, from ERP systems to shop and marketplace integrations.

As Senior QA Engineer, y ou’ll shape how quality is engineered across your team and product area — from test strategy and automation to quality practices embedded throughout the development lifecycle. You’ll own the technical direction of testing within your area, partner closely with engineers and engineering leadership, and help raise the testing bar through pragmatic, scalable approaches. We work agentic-first, so AI assistants like GitHub Copilot und Claude are part of how we build and test every day.

Your responsibilities

• Own the technical direction of test automation within your product area — making pragmatic decisions about frameworks, tooling, and how they should evolve
• Drive quality strategy for your area, identifying systemic risks in our platform before they surface in production
• Define and track meaningful quality metrics, using them to identify gaps and improve engineering practices
• Act as a technical sparring partner in architecture and design reviews, bringing quality, testability, and risk considerations into decisions early
• Tackle complex testing challenges beyond functional/E2E testing, including API and integration testing, performance and load testing, and release regression strategies
• Lead root-cause analysis for critical incidents and turn findings into concrete improvements to our tests, processes, and architecture
• Mentor engineers and QAs you work with, helping raise testing maturity and build stronger quality practices across the team
• Use AI assistants and agents to scale test automation, analysis, debugging, and documentation, and continuously explore better ways to apply them to quality engineering

Your profile

• 5+ years of experience in test automation and quality engineering, with hands-on ownership of test strategy, automation, or framework decisions
• Strong understanding of complex software systems and the ability to identify and assess quality risks beyond individual features
• Proven experience designing and evolving test automation, including making practical decisions around CI/CD, test coverage, merge gates, flaky tests, and fast feedback
• Track record of mentoring engineers and QAs and influencing technical decisions through expertise and collaboration rather than formal authority
• Strong analytical and structured problem-solving skills, with the judgement to prioritize systemic quality issues over one-off bugs
• Confident communication of technical trade-offs, quality risks, and recommendations to both engineering teams and non-technical stakeholders
• Hands-on experience with AI-assisted engineering tools, or a strong track record of quickly adopting and applying new tools and technologies
• Excellent written and spoken English and good German skills
